Bright Idea Capital is a private equity fund for small businesses in the UAE and India. Our first fund is $75 million which we expect to deploy over 10-12 companies.
We empower small businesses by injecting patient capital and providing our portfolio companies with innovative software solutions, educational resources, and customized financial products.

Small businesses are crucial to our economy, employing nearly half of the workforce and contributing 44% of economic activity. Unfortunately, when owners retire, a staggering 70% are unable to find buyers, often leading to permanent closures. This not only results in financial losses for owners but also puts employees out of work and deprives communities of vital services.
Our Approach
Bright Idea Capital acquires small businesses from retiring owners and allocates 10%-20% of equity to employees after the sale. We believe in the advantages of employee ownership—it fosters a collaborative environment with positive outcomes for both staff and the business.
This approach creates a resilient network of companies that operate independently, ensuring that retiring owners, employee shareholders, and local communities all benefit.

Criteria for Acquisition

Consistent Earnings
Businesses should demonstrate Seller Discretionary Earnings (EBITDA plus owner compensation) of $500K to $2M over the past three years

Transition Support
Owners should be willing to assist in a smooth transition for up to six months

Management Team
The business should have at least two managers or supervisors

Real Estate Options
We consider both leases and purchases based on individual circumstances
